The Safety Factory's Lockout/Tagout "Do Not Operate" tags communicate that equipment must not be operated. These safety tags are durable and strong and withstand moisture, dirt, grease, chemicals and extreme temperatures. They are reinforced with a 3/8" metal grommet. Printing is encapsulated inside rigid PVC. This rugged material has a durable, hard-matte finish which retains pen, pencil and marker notations and pencil may be erased for multiple use. The tags are clear and effective at reducing accidents and preventing worksite mishaps.
Select and use lockout devices under the employer's energy-control procedures. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147(c)(5) sets requirements for durability, standardization, substantial construction and employee identification; suitability depends on the device, application and workplace conditions.
A Do Not Operate tag warns employees not to operate the identified equipment. Choose the legend and record the responsible employee's details under the employer's energy-control procedure. A tag is a warning device; it does not provide the physical restraint of a lock, as explained in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147(c)(7)(ii)(A). See the lockout/tagout tag selection and use guide for a cited overview.
Product listings such as T1-13, Equipment Locked Out By offer Classic Industrial, All Plastic and Sturdy Card Stock options. Compare the material choices and specifications on the individual product page, and select a completed tag suitable for the exposure and duration of the job.
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147(c)(5)(ii)(C)(2) sets a minimum unlocking strength of 50 pounds for the tagout attachment, which must also be non-reusable, attachable by hand, self-locking and non-releasable. A tag-body or grommet pull rating alone does not establish compliance.
